European Short Track Event

Special Olympics The Netherlands is going to organize the first ever European Short Track Event. We will welcome approximately 80 athletes and their coaches from all our Europe/Eurasia Programs.

Target Group: Athletes with intellectual and multiple disabilities from 12 years up, who have participate in a regular training and who can hand all necessary forms.

Quota: 6 athletes, 1 coach and 1 head of delegation

Sports: Short Track:

• Category 1 111m, 222m, 333m
• Category 2 222m, 333m, 500m
• Category 3 333m, 500m, 777m
• Category 4 500m, 777m, 1000m

Housing/meals: All participants will be housed in the Pean Accomodation in Nes Akkrum. Breakfast and dinner will be served here. Lunch will be served at the sport venue.

On-Site-Costs: The On-Site-Costs (breakfast, lunch and dinner, housing) from the 9th of March in the afternoon till the 12th of March after breakfast, will be covered by Special Olympics The Netherlands. Costs of transportation to and from The Netherlands will not be included.

Extra coach stay: It is possible to invite one or two extra coaches. The costs for one person will be € 250,-.

Extra day stay: It is possible to come over on March 8 or leave on March 13. The extra costs for these nights are € 100,- per night per person.

Venue: The Special Olympics Shorttrack Event will take place in the Thialf Ice Skate Center in Heerenveen.

Registration date: Please send the Registration Forms no later than January 15th 2012. Registrations received after January 15th 2012 can not be taken into consideration!

Travel: If you come by plane, please take a flight to Amsterdam (Schiphol Airport).

Special side-events: If it’s possible we will organize a Family program and Healthy Athletes screening.
